Monday Nights at the Park, Weekends at the Village: Riverton's Season From Halloween to Santa

  • October 22, 2026

Riverton's late-fall calendar runs on two schedules. Each free city event between now and early December lands on a Monday evening, and most of them happen at 1452 W 12600 S, home to Riverton City Park and the Old Dome Meeting Hall. Mountain View Village, the shopping center at 13303 S Teal Ridge Way, puts its events on Fridays and Saturdays. Once you see that split, you can map out the next seven weeks around two addresses and two kinds of nights.

The City's Calendar Runs on Mondays

The pattern started earlier this week. Riverton's Halloween Bash and Scare Rodeo was scheduled for Monday, October 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Riverton City Park, billed as a free evening of candy, games and activities. The next three city events fall on Mondays too.

Veterans Day Program, Monday, November 9, 7 p.m. The city's free program takes place at The Dome, 1452 W 12600 S. It features the Riverton Jazz Band Combo and the Riverton High School Madrigals.

Santa's Arrival in Riverton, Monday, November 30, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at Riverton City Park at 6:30 p.m. The city lists free activities and treats for the evening. That's the Monday after Thanksgiving, so the city's holiday season begins right as the long weekend ends.

Christmas Night of Music, Monday, December 7, 7 p.m. This free concert moves to the Riverton High School Auditorium at 12476 S Silverwolf Way. It features a community choir and orchestra, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Old Dome Meeting Hall keeps the same schedule. Its exhibit, The Pen Is Mightier: Writing a Revolution, runs November 2 through December 16 at 1452 W 12600 S. Monday is the only day it stays open into the evening. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. on Mondays and noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you work during the day, you can see it after work on Monday, November 9 or Monday, November 30, and walk over to the city event at the same address afterward.

The Village Takes Fridays and Saturdays

Mountain View Village books the other end of the week. The center's next two events fall on the two days right after this post goes up.

Villains in the Village, Friday, October 23, 5 to 7 p.m. The center's Halloween night takes place in the parking lot near T-Mobile. It includes trick-or-treating, villain characters, crafts and photos. The city's Halloween event was set for Monday. This one is four days later and eight days before Halloween itself.

The Makers Hive Market, Saturday, October 24, noon to 4 p.m. This is the last scheduled date of the Markets at The Village series. It runs at Stearman Plaza with local artisans and small businesses. No later market dates are posted, so Saturday is the last open-air market at the Village this fall.

Hello Kitty Café Truck, Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The truck parks at Stearman Plaza near Cinemark. Its page advertises treats, merchandise and collectibles. The window is nine hours long, the longest single event on either calendar this season.

The Newest Reason to Stop at the Village

The Village added a permanent draw this month, separate from its event calendar. The first Utah location of Salt & Straw was set to open Friday, October 16, at 4489 W Partridge Hill Lane, Suite S-120, next door to R&R Barbecue. The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the national ice cream brand picked Riverton over Salt Lake City for its Utah debut.

The Tribune said the opening menu included an exclusive flavor called Frosted Pink Sugar Cookie Dough. It's sweet cream ice cream with vanilla sugar cookie crumbles, chewy sugar cookie dough and ribbons of pink frosting, inspired by Utah's dirty soda culture. The regular menu was available too, along with a Halloween flavor called The Great Candycopia, which mixes chocolate candies into salted butterscotch ice cream. The Candycopia is a seasonal Halloween offering, so it makes sense to try it before the month ends.

This matters for the weekend schedule because Salt & Straw sits on the same property as Villains in the Village and the Makers Hive Market. Friday's trick-or-treating ends at 7 p.m., and the new ice cream shop is a short walk across the center. Saturday's market starts at noon, so you can browse first and stop for a scoop on the way out.

The Season on One Page

Here's every date from both calendars, in order, with the day of the week that drives the pattern.

Date Day Event Location Time
Oct 23 Friday Villains in the Village Mountain View Village, lot near T-Mobile 5 to 7 p.m.
Oct 24 Saturday The Makers Hive Market Stearman Plaza, Mountain View Village Noon to 4 p.m.
Nov 2 to Dec 16 Mon to Wed The Pen Is Mightier exhibit Old Dome Meeting Hall, 1452 W 12600 S Mon noon to 8 p.m.; Tue and Wed noon to 5 p.m.
Nov 9 Monday Veterans Day Program The Dome, 1452 W 12600 S 7 p.m.
Nov 11 to Dec 14 Ongoing Holiday Donation Drive City Hall, 12830 S Redwood Road Drop-off at Recreation & Events window
Nov 21 Saturday Hello Kitty Café Truck Stearman Plaza near Cinemark 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Nov 30 Monday Santa's Arrival in Riverton Riverton City Park, 1452 W 12600 S 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Dec 7 Monday Christmas Night of Music Riverton High School Auditorium, 12476 S Silverwolf Way 7 p.m., doors 6:30

Looking down the day column, every city evening falls on a Monday, and every Village event falls on a Friday or Saturday. None of them overlap. A household could make every event on the list without picking one over another.

The Drive That Spans Both Calendars

Riverton's Holiday Donation Drive is the only item that doesn't fit the pattern. It runs every day from November 11 through December 14. New, unwrapped donations go to The Christmas Box House and Toys for Tots. Drop-offs go to the Recreation & Events window at City Hall, 12830 S Redwood Road.

The dates line up with both schedules. Collection starts two days after the Veterans Day Program and ends one week after the Christmas concert. That leaves time for a Saturday shopping run at Mountain View Village between November 11 and the end of the drive.

12600 South Holds the City Side Together

All of the city events except the concert sit along one road. Riverton City Park and the Old Dome Meeting Hall share 1452 W 12600 S, and the park lists dedicated parking, daily hours of 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and a leash requirement for dogs.

Farther west, 12600 South is also where a new trail crossing is coming. Riverton's October 1, 2026 newsletter called the Welby/Jacob Trail "newly developed." It said a HAWK signal will be installed "in the next couple of months" to make crossing 12600 S on the trail safer. The same note pointed to the Midas Creek, Rose Creek and Jordan River trails as other places to walk this fall. The city hasn't announced an installation date, so for now the signal is expected but not yet in place. If the timeline holds, it could be working around the time Santa arrives at the park a few miles east on the same road.

For trail access, Riverton lists Monarch Meadows Park at 13600 S 4800 W as the Rose Creek trailhead. It lists Roi Hardy Park at 12400 River Vista Drive and the Riverbend Trailhead at 12765 S 1125 W as entrances to the Jordan River Parkway. A Saturday morning walk on one of those trails and an afternoon at the Village fit easily into the same day.

The Village calendar can change before late November, so check the Mountain View Village events page and the Riverton City events pages before you go.
